General

Is this a replacement for chemotherapy or standard cancer treatment?

No. OncoSupport is a nutrition and nutraceutical consultancy — it works alongside your oncologist and standard treatment, never in place of it.

Is Dr. Kanuru a medical doctor who treats patients directly?

Dr. Kanuru holds a PhD in Molecular Nanosciences from the University of Cambridge and has completed CME in Immuno-Oncology at Harvard Medical School — a research doctorate, not a medical license. He has 15 years of cancer medicine research experience and, over a decade of applied practice, has supported over 500 patients across side-effect management, remission guidance, and advanced-stage support. OncoSupport is built around this research-scientist background specifically because cancer research and drug-nutrient interactions change faster than standard dietetics training tracks — see Why a Clinical Research Scientist on the About page.

Does this replace my hospital's dietitian?

No, and we'd actively discourage that. Your hospital dietitian remains the right resource for day-to-day practical nutrition — calorie and protein targets, meal textures, managing side effects meal-by-meal. This consultancy's specific strength is different: evaluating nutraceutical and supplement claims, checking them against your medications, and reading fast-moving cancer research honestly. The two are meant to work together, not compete.

Who is this consultation for?

Anyone navigating a cancer diagnosis — from newly diagnosed patients wanting a second opinion, to those in active treatment managing side effects, to patients in remission focused on recurrence risk, to patients and families in advanced stages seeking honest, comfort-focused support.

On Nutrition, Nutraceuticals & Evidence

Are nutraceuticals safe to take with my chemotherapy?

Not automatically — this is exactly why interaction checking matters. Some natural compounds can interfere with chemotherapy drugs. Every recommendation is checked against your specific medications before it's suggested.

Is this the same as "alternative medicine" or unproven cures I've seen online?

No. Every recommendation is explained by mechanism and honestly labeled by the actual strength of evidence behind it — not by tradition, anecdote, or marketing.

How do you actually decide if a herbal remedy or "cancer diet" I've read about is legitimate?

We check whether it makes biological sense, how strong the actual research is, whether a realistic dose could do anything in the body, and whether it interacts with your medications. See our Evidence & Myth-Busting page, or bring us a specific claim directly.

My cancer came back after treatment worked for a while. Why, and can anything help?

This is often related to cancer cells adapting to a treatment over time, or to a small number of cells that weren't detectable at the time. Our Remission & Recurrence-Risk and Advanced-Stage consultations are built specifically around this.

How is "cancer-free" different from what my scans actually show?

Scans detect disease above a certain size — they don't reliably detect a small number of remaining cancer cells. This is a real limitation of current technology, not a reason for alarm, but it's why realistic monitoring planning matters during remission.

On Second Opinions & Advanced Care

Will a second opinion here contradict my oncologist?

Our goal isn't to contradict your treating team — it's to help you understand their reasoning fully and bring good questions back to them.

My family has been told there's nothing more to do. Can you help?

We hear this often. There is frequently still real, evidence-based support available for comfort and quality of life — see our Advanced-Stage & Comfort Care page. We will never promise a cure, and we'll always tell you plainly what the evidence does and doesn't support.

Will you contact my oncologist or palliative care team?

Only with your explicit consent. We actively encourage you to share what we discuss with your treating team, but we will not reach out on your behalf without you asking us to.
